China Unicom and Huawei launched a project to establish a private 5G network for education. The project, executed on the Guangdong Education and Research Network (GDERNET), connected 168 universities. Previously, users had difficulties configuring VPNs to access internal university networks. The new 5G network provides reliable, high-speed connectivity, even during peak usage periods.
